Creative Background

My trek into the nature of art and craftsmanship began nearly three decades ago, or perhaps earlier, as I reflect on my childhood. From a young age, I was surrounded by not only the intricate style of embroidery and knitwear but also a heavy metal and creative mind-sets. With definite certainty, my family influenced me a big deal, shaping my passion and nurturing my creative drive.

Here’s what happens when you play with hooks as a kid – next thing you know, you love it!

What I loved about it so much was the barely visible hook, the thread, delicate as a piece of hair, the intricacy of patterns, and their understated simplicity at the same time. Most of all, though, was designing, making things work, and making them work with style. Watching the creation of patterns take shape and seeing how something as simple as a thread could be transformed into a masterpiece had an undeniable pull.

In 2014 Iwona Luka-Speaking of Lace got established. The rest is history.
